Pilates in the Pines has ramped up its offerings to include Power Plate workouts. Power Plate is vibration-based exercise technique first studied by a Russian Scientist Vladimir Nazarov. The technique helped to prevent Russian astronauts’ muscles and bones from wasting away in space. The first commercial machine was created in 1999. The vibrating platform accelerates in a vertical direction or an almost perfect sine wave. It can vibrate for 25 to 50 times per second. This accelerated fitness method is performed on an oscillating platform that amps up any typically exercise routine. It offers a high-intensity full-body workout.
